Gloomy Monday

Something pretty. Anthropologie seems to provide endless 'pretty' love.

So it's been BUSY in my neck of the woods! Yet now that I've finally sat my butt down to jot it out and ramble a little everything seems to have completely slipped my mind! I blame getting old. OH speaking of that... I went and had my yearly doctor blah and she used the phrase: "As we get older..." yup. Just about died. haha Useless information I just figured I'd hurl out into the vast world of the internet. I turned 27 in January so I was already feeling a little cruddy about my age and the terrifying year "30" that I am approaching way too quickly, guys. Years fly by and it freaks me the heck out! Anyway, I digress.... off that topic.

I'll start with some basics.

My sister Ariel is moving to California! This makes me happy. She'll be crashing with my husband and I and depending on where the future takes us we may get an apartment together. Yes, to some this may seem like a mini nightmare, but my sister and I are close and I know we'll probably tear eachothers heads off on occasion, we have lived together longer than we've lived apart so we're already pretty darn accustomed to eachothers company! Then hopefully at the end of this year and my brother and his girlfriend will be heading this way, too! They would be getting an apartment. ;)

Hmmmm.... what else..... I have been working quite diligently on creating my little whimsical creatures line. My goal has been to build up as large a stock pile as possible. I would like to be able to do some art shows in the near future but you have to have stock in order to that! I had my fingers crossed to be part of renegade this year but the stock is proving to be a bit of a setback but it's okay! I will prevail and eventually have enough items to fill a small-ish booth. In the meantime you can find my currently finished creatures at: MADDOX AND KLAUS

Okay, and I know this falls under the insanely typical, but I am the proud owner of Frozen. My only dislike is it's very very Broadway-ish. I know that's probably one of the main reasons people heart it, but honestly I'm in it mainly for the awesome color theory! I adore the character designs and color schemes. It's pure happiness.

Long time no update....

Whoa. I've been gone for a while! I had contemplated just bailing on my blog but I guess I can continue to use it to just update life stuff. haha I have bailed on Facebook, and to my Facebook friends, I am sorry but you can find me on Instagram. :)

This is what I've been up to! I've been having a nice time creating my whimsical woodland lodge creatures. These shown here in the photo (aside from one) are foxes! I heart the fox, so it was my starter creature, then I moved on to a deer and have recently added a bunny to the group! Well, friends, for now that is all. I'm sure there has been lots of stuff happen in the months since I've been away but frankly, I'm too lazy to think of it all and write it out!

Boo!

Decided to get creative this morning.

Hubby woke me up with a halloween card so of course I had to make him one! I have a Poketo water bottle and these are some of the monsters, so I drew them on some super thick, shimmer cardstock and painted them in some of my personal favorite shades. Good stuff.

Happy Thursday

I've been working like crazy. I have managed to get 3 of these completely done. I have 3 other fox face plush goods all done I'm just finishing up their wood mounts which is pretty time consuming. Surprisingly time consuming, actually. 

So that is the newest whimsical faux taxidermy to the Maddox & Klaus collection. 

Believe me, I have many more ideas. My brain is on overdrive all the time! I can't keep up with all my projects. In the evenings I spend my time working on some mushroom clips for my mom. Those actually have a deadline so I'm starting to prioritize them. I wanted to get them all done by the middle of November. 

Coffee is what's keeping me going! I bought this awesome little mug from a shop in Maine called Jo Ellen's. It's a charming little place with lots of fun goodies. I've heard Martha Stewart pops in once in a while, too.

Day in the life.

Hello, friends.

 Hope all is well. It's Thursday, woohoo! Almost Friday! Hubs and I have a coffee date tonight in Santa Monica. We've been enjoying our weekly evening escapes over there. We've been apartment hunting in that area. We want a dog. Which I know I've talked about multiple times. Our original plan was a Frenchie but the prices of them seem nuts, so we're going to opt out for an Imperial Shih Tzu. We've got her name picked out and everything! It's not too different from our original plan we've decided on Juniper Fyfe. :) I have never had my own dog so it's kind of intimidating! I've never had anything depend on me. The fear of that is kind of why we haven't had kids, too. haha I have some commitment issues when it comes to that. Weirdly enough I have zero commitment issue with marriage. Weird. Don't worry, slowly but surely I'm coming around to the children idea. Not ready yet, but I do feel I'm totally ready for a puppy. I've always had pets growing up but I have never been the one who has potty trained them, or anything like that, so there is some intimidation that has taken me a while to get over, but I have gotten over it and I am just all about getting our own little puppy. My husband wants a dog, too. Our apartment is a firm pet free zone (douche bag landlord is a pansy and prefers cats) They will be losing tenants who always pay on time, never cause issues all because they won't let me get a 9 lb dog. Their loss. I'm okay with the move. Lack of parking is getting ridiculous and I'm very over it. Our rent went up. My neighbors smoke on all sides of my building so my house wreaks of cheap cigarettes. You know you're around too much second hand smoke when marlboro cigarettes actually smell better than the cheap swill your neighbors inhale into their bodies. tsk I'm a little bitter about this. Every single week after searching for a parking spot for a 1/2 hour or more Danny and I get more and more determined that it's time to move. We thought we found a place a few weeks ago but there was an income requirement and we actually made 'too much' money. HA On one hand that made us feel good and on the other hand it ticked me off. haha But it wasn't in a very nice area... So *phew* dodged a bullet. We have a couple new options to look into, so we'll see. I have a feeling we'll be bossed on this, too.

Colors of fall in my neighborhood. Pretty! I have to say, I am so thankful for the incredible weather in Southern California. I don't miss fall back in the midwest or the east coast. Cold, gloomy, depressing... Actually don't really appreciate it at all anymore. In LA our leaves still change and winter is actually just like a Michigan autumn. So um, that is perfection. I have learned that I love sunshine even though my eyeballs get tired from it and it will cause me squint lines earlier than I'd like. I can't imagine living anywhere else. California has ruined me for other states. They certainly take advantage of people here, though. It's very expensive. Like, stupid expensive, but because of the dang weather I still don't want to leave.

Happy Wednesday, my friends.

 I hope you are all doing well. Life here has been kind of insanely busy so I apologize for my lack of blog posts. Hubs and I have been trying to figure out our trip home to Michigan for Christmas which has been an emotional roller coaster, one minute things are going great, and then next we think we won't be able to go, and then we brainstorm and figure out a way and then we think we can't go. OMG it's been nuts, I'm bummed that due to people kind of slacking on this whole plan our plane tickets went up 400.00. Yeah, ouch. I managed to pull some resources, though, and thank goodness for my 22,000+ air miles we were able to get 200.00 in gift cards to use towards our next flight AND because I am a southwest mastercard holder I have 100.00 off our next flight, I just need to figure out how to cash in on that bonus AND my awesome parents gave me some dough to put toward it as well to ease some of the blow. No one wants to spend 1000.00 to go to Michigan where we know we will most likely be sick with colds from traveling and shoveling snow. *fingers crossed the snow stays away* I hate snow. Even though living in LA I pretty much don't have to deal with it, I still loath it more than anything. And even having to deal with the dreaded white s*&^% for 2 weeks is a nightmare. Yes, I feel that passionately about it, but I won't swear on my blog. So uh, fill in the blanks. ;) There are no other words to describe it.

Anyway, I shared some of my current projects in my last post (I think, I can't remember!) But here are some new pictures! I have a little set back because my phone takes terrible pictures and these pieces have neon pink which my phone, being the wonderful product that it is, can't capture. My husband's phone, however, does a much better job but by the time he gets out of work the sun is going down so I have been forced to wait until this weekend to snap some pics of the newest project to put on my etsy site. So far I have 2 completely finished and ready to be loaded online. The theme of this project is called "Welcome to the forest" and consists of little, artsy, embroidered fox faces, finished with vintage inspired, glitsy tinsel and mounted to a wooden plaque which has been hand painted by me and gives a completely unique take on faux taxidermy. I'm pretty darn proud of this accomplishment and have been having a total blast creating this little whimsy creatures. Prices on these guys will range from 65.00 for the smaller ones (they are approx 7 inches tall) and they will go up to about 120.00 for the largest ones. I apologize for steeper prices but you have no idea the level of work that has gone into these and they're pretty challenging! They are completely finished and ready to hang so the only work needed on the buyers end is to nail a nail in the wall and put the little guys up! I have no idea why it took me so long to create children's and baby room decor. These guys are not meant as toys (there really isn't even a way to play with them) they're for decorative purposes only. I use a mixture of embroidery floss and french tapestry wool and I mixed some muted tones with some bright and cheery tones.

These are actually much farther along in the process than these pictures. They're actually just about done. I have one more step to complete and then I'll be photographing them for my etsy shop.

I'd still like to do monograms in my fonts, but my current problem with those is time, for one, and secondly I did them on my ipad so I found out that the image quality is terrible so I'm kind of having to start over. *sigh*

Anyway, thank God it's Friday! I'm wrapping up a few things then heading out for the evening with Danny.

Well, hi there.

Never have I been into unicorns. Not as a child, teen, nada. Yet now... At 26 years old I find them awesome. Haha Backwards. This image I found on pinterest and is my new inspiration for yes... Another project! Happy to report that I have actually finished some older ones and they will be online very soon. I wanted to have a few done so I didn't have one random new tng on there. One down, one almost completely finished. My goal is to have a few new things up in my shop by this weekend. I'm trying to focus!
