Birthday creations!

Happy birthday, friend.
Make sure my brother does something nice for you.
XO

Good morning...

Happy Thursday! We went to Santa Monica last night- loved it. Definitely would like to go back and shop around this weekend as long as the husband isn't working. Which I don't think he is. We'll probably have to prioritize some apartment hunting, though. We'll see. :)
Snapped this picture a while ago featuring my gray and yellow nails, sharpie tattoo and rings. I'm kind of loving the whole ring that doesn't pass the knuckle accessory.
I've been kind of lazy so I've been using my own photography lately. ;) I just don't feel like saving pictures and figuring out where they came from and I do like the make sure people get linked correctly, so until my laziness is gone in that department, I'll use my own photos. ;)

Anyway, today I'm sitting in the Deco building in Los Angeles, California. Lovely building! It's art deco (obviously since the name) It seems to have been an old bank back in the 20s. There is a huge vault that they've creatively turned into a conference room. It's really neat.
There are some auditions going on in an office off to my right for the new Martin Scorsese movie. (Whatever that may be) So that's very new! haha

Vintage Camera App Photography

Missing my little puppy

I miss my little beastly today. She's at home in Michigan with my family.
She needs to come see me and I'll snuggle her and give her 'scooby snacks'.
Miss Pim.

Currently working on....

THE BADGE
for
MADDOX AND KLAUS

I tend to get a little bored with my graphics sometimes and I've been meaning to work on a badge, so this morning I'm sitting in hubalubs office and figured now is the perfect time to tinker with this new look.
I wish I could find a way to offer my graphic artist abilities to the public. I don't do printing- no way. haha Tried and failed. I don't have the patience for printing, but I'd be more than happy to design graphics. We'll see how that goes. ;) I don't know how to get my name out there so until I figure that out I'll keep trucking along with my own store brand.

Jewelry: I don't have the ability to work on anything new at the time. It's all in a bin sitting in the back of my jeep waiting to be taken to its new home. Which hopefully will be very soon because I'm so tired of living out of a suitcase! Ick. Anywho- until later.

Hello to my friends pretty far away!

Happy Wednesday morning, friendlies.
We walked 30 minutes to Mackevision at The Deco building today. Thirty-minutes in the sun and heat whips your but! But it's all good because I want to get in better shape and walking a total of one hour is a good start!
The last two days have been NUTS. We're looking for an apartment but because Danny is already working getting a chance to go check anything out has been a tiny bit difficult. But it's given us a bit of time to get a list of places going. We so far have like 6 or 7 to look at and judging by their pictures they're all really nice and between here in LA and Beverly Hills. I know when you think Beverly Hills you're probably thinking I'm going to pay a gazillion dollars. NOT THE CASE. haha We have found places in Beverly that are just as much if not a little less than where we are right in Los Angeles. Our hotel is about 2 blocks from Beverly Hills. Fun, right? Beverly Hills is beautiful and seems quite safe. With lots and lots to do. California is pretty darn amazing. I don't feel like I'm away from home; though it doesn't have the same home-y feel as my favorite city, Charleston SC, it's close so I can't complain! It costs just as much for us to live in Beverly Hills as it would if we lived in downtown historic Charleston. Houses are even similar because they seem to have been originally built as single family homes in the 20s and have been converted into lovely apartments. Grocery stores are my problem. Although when walking to Mackevision we found one! Thank God. I'm so sick of gas station snack food that is horrible! So that's a huge relief. It's only a minute or two away (when driving) and they have parking right below. Parking has been the biggest issue. Just to go to Target it just seems difficult unless we drive 20 minutes to Thousand Oaks. One nice thing about Thousand Oaks is its a smaller town and a little more like towns at home in Michigan so there is a comfort level there that I tend to gravitate to. Nothing can be described here as being "like" anywhere in Michigan. Things are laid out here completely different than back home. It would almost be like partridge creek was a town... so there is a road through it but a similar close feel. The mall here is half outdoors and half indoors. It's great. They have escalators OUTSIDE. You could never do that in Michigan. The weather would kill it. Anyway- I have some things to do so I hope everyone has a lovely day.

Love

The Scoop

California is crazy. haha In a good way. I have my moments of getting very overwhelmed and shedding a couple tears. It's not that I dislike it here, I just want somewhere I can go to escape the busy-ness of everyday life here and not knowing what is going on! You know how you usually need a vacation from your vacation? That's how I feel. haha I'm not going away from this, so I have to find a comfortable place in my life to put it all so I can just go with the flow. It's a lot to take in. Today we'll start apartment hunting. We've already been writing down addresses and phone numbers of places in the surrounding area. We've decided that we'll look in LA because it's so close to Danny's work, the prices are still the same as other places and there are quiet neighborhoods right off Wilshire. Always good. I'll keep you posted on that and I'll post pictures when we find a place to land.

I don't have too much more to talk about. I've been keeping everyone pretty up-to-date on Facebook. I do have one thing to say, though. If you're coming to California driving really is an amazing experience. Unless you've seen that part of the country before from the ground and not from a plane. ;) It was beautiful.
My opinion of states we drove through:
Michigan- Obviously you know I'm not a huge fan of the home state. ;)

Illinois: Pretty. Somehow, though similar to Ohio, it looks different. However 9 hours of ANY state will make you want to scream and demand at least some new scenery.

Missouri: I have nothing good to say about this place but it looks amazing in my rear view mirror. I have never seen so many adult superstores in my life. I mean, the south has many, but it seems Missouri has some sex issues. There was an arcade advertised for one. How nice. tsk. OH don't forget the 'Men's Gym and Spa" located in a very questionable dilapidated building next to the adult superstore. (this is part of that whole mess) One billboard straight up said something about pornography. Lovely.

Oklahoma: As soon as we crossed into this state I didn't see anymore superstores. ;) Also the landscape was changing and everything started to get interesting. I did end up with the "Oklahoma" song stuck in my head for like 4 hours.

TEXAS: Ooooooh how I loved Texas! Seriously I plan on visiting there again in the future. So to my Texas friendlies, I'll be paying you a visit whether you want to see me or not. Some places instantly make you feel like you're home and I found that in Texas. The people were so nice and even though Amarillo wreaked of cow crap, haha it was nice. I admit that by the time we were about to hit New Mexico the cow fields got kind of old. ;) But Texas is a beautiful place and they're so proud of it. I have always wanted to live in a state that the people who lived there were busting with pride in their state. Texans are just awesome. I'll be back.

On to the next state...

New Mexico: My husband's home state. Um. No. I didn't like it. haha No offense, but it just wasn't for me. :)

Arizona: LOVE. Talk about scenery, those people win! Even though that gets tiring when you've been driving for 3 days, it was an experience that was very much enjoyed. We saw the Grand Canyon and had a great time! The Grand Canyon is nothing short of breathtaking and something everyone should see once. It blows your mind and it's just baffling. I don't believe in evolution so the "billions of years" garbage was just annoying. No. I can't explain why it's there, but it's epic and a must see.

Last but not least: CALIFORNIA. Very beautiful. If you get bored here you must just be the most boring person ever. Whether you want to walk or drive there is always something to see/do. We've spent most of our time driving just to see everything! We went to Burbank last night, which was nice. Also went to Hollywood; not a nice place! Wow. Not nice at all. Finally did manage to find the Hollywood sign, but because of the buildings I couldn't get a good picture. That will come later.

SO. I don't think I left anything out.

FFH Flashback

I've got a heart that's full of dreams
and a little bit of crazy
I can feel it pulling me to somewhere i have never been
I'm packing up and leaving home
To travel into the great unknown
Its time, I have to go.

So here's goodbye here's so long
I must go and follow love
I feel my heart moving on
I must go and follow love
Carry on while I'm gone
This is what I've been dreaming of
I miss you so
But I must go, go and follow love

-Follow Love
FFH

I honestly haven't heard this song in years but lately it's the only thing running through my head because the lyrics are EXACTLY how I feel. Exactly. So, FFH sums this up perfectly. Even though I don't love this town I've called home for 24 years, it is the place I've called home for 24 years so of course I'll miss this town and the familiarity.

Anyway- back to packing.

Happy Weekend

My life is crazy

Yep. I've decided I like blogger. It's been a little interesting to get used to again. So I've returned to my blog roots. ;) Um, life is pretty much insane right now, so my posts might be a bit sporadic over the next week or so. With moving and the drive from Michigan to California, life is just plain nuts. So be patient, I'll be back up and obsessively blogging and making myself look like a shopaholic again soon. ;)
